Fun times at the Jazz Fest - East End up next!

Monday 22 June 2009 - 12:29:42

Us at Big Eyed Phish would love to thank everyone that came and hung out with us at A-Pub Live after the Jazz Festival this past weekend. We had a great time and hopefully many of you did as well. For anyone who was not there, we debuted 2 new songs (for us), which were "Everyday", and "Shake Me Like a Monkey"...which is the first song off the new DMB CD!
While there was a small chance that Robert Randolph came to jam, we found that he was quite busy that night and was not going to be able to. We did, however, get the opportunity to chat with him a bit prior to his show. What a great guy, and man did he put on a killer show.

Next up!
Next up for Big Eyed Phish is the infamous East End Festival! We will be taking the main stage on July 10th, from 7-9pm. The East End festival is a night of music with multiple stages and crowded blocked-off streets!
http://www.eastendmusicfestival.com/

Before us, will be the band Mo-chester, which some of the band members are personal friends of some of us. Highly recommend getting to the show early to check them out. After us will be Uncle Plum, another band with members who are friends with some of us! If you are from outside Rochester and haven't heard of these guys or seen them, we highly recommend checking them out! They rock.

After East End is over, Big Eyed Phish will be playing a 2nd time for the night at A-Pub Live, which is right down the street at the festival. Between both shows, you will hear over 40 songs of DMB music, as well as one or two Big Eyed Phish originals!
We are working hard to get some new tunes added to our setlist for all of our fans that have seen us multiple times this summer!

We really appreciate everyone who comes out and want to thank everyone for their continued support. See you in a couple of weeks at East End!!!!

Thank you and more fun ahead!

Monday 08 June 2009 - 11:18:16

Big Eyed Phish would like to throw out a big THANKS to everyone who came out the past couple of weekends. From our regular show at A-Pub Live, to our after-East End party at A-Pub Live, to one of our new favorite out of town places: The Crazy Clam, in Sylvan Beach....we want to thank all the fans, new and old, who made the past couple of weeks such a fun time for us.
We would also like to thank Joel, from Tinted Image, and T-Money...both of whom helped us out by subbing in for band members that were out of town. Joel really rocked the sax and T-Money held down the bass for us.
The good news is that our full band is back in action for the rest of the summer (as long as everything goes as planned!)

We are really looking forward to playing after the jazz festival on June 19th, at A-Pub Live! We are lucky enough to get a meet-n-greet with Robert Randolph and the Family band. We are going to try and see if Robert himself would like to sit in with us for a song or two!!! We make no promises and chances are he will not be able to, but the possibility does exist! So keep your fingers crossed!
Whether he does or not, this show is really going to rock on the 19th!!! Don't miss it!

Dreaming Tree acoustic Duo Thursday at Lovin Cup!

Wednesday 13 May 2009 - 16:28:40

While this is not the full band, lead singer Brandon DePaul is involved with an acoustic "dave and tim" style duo with Zero Gravity guitarist Matt Beeman. Together they put on a great acoustic show which will be a perfect fit for Lovin' Cup's "Ladies Night", this thursday! Lovin Cup is located on the RIT campus in the new Park Point plaza and is really a great place to hang out if you haven't been there before!

A reminder, the Big Eyed Phish show at Merchant Street Smokehouse is CANCELLED!

Next Big Eyed Phish show will be Saturday, May 30th at A-Pub Live...an awesome venue with a promised high-energy show! For an extra $5, Chris (The Doctor) Brodhecker promises to give bull rides in order to compete with Daisy Dukes. I believe Matt Merritt and Karl Thomas are also working on a bar-dance routine to "Devil Went Down to Georgia". Definitely a show not to miss!

Brockport Show Cancelled! (May 15) - and thanks at the Ale House!

Monday 11 May 2009 - 09:56:48

The Merchant Street Smokehouse has cancelled our show this upcoming saturday as well as other live entertainment in the upcoming weeks. We apologize for anyone planning on going to the show, but there is nothing we can do to change their financial status!

On a good note, thanks to EVERYONE who came out to the Irondequoit Ale House! The place was packed and we really appreciate all the support especially when we play new venues like that. Thanks to Yuengling and the Yuengling girls for coming out as well! Hope everyone had as great of a time as we did putting the show on!

Our next show is May 30th, at A-Pub Live! Hope to see everyone there for what is promised to be a crazy night!

Big Eyed Phish welcomes its newest member: Matt Merritt

Thursday 30 April 2009 - 12:39:24

The Dave Matthews Band is ever-evolving and changing their sound to keep up with their own songwriting, as well as the changing attitudes of their fans. Us in Big Eyed Phish attempt to offer fans the entire spectrum of Dave Matthew's music, including the keyboard playing of Butch Taylor, and now, also including the lead guitar playing of Tim Reynolds.
With the latest release of the single "Funny the Way it is", as well as 2 other songs we have heard from their current tour, we decided it was time to bring in someone that could really tear it up on lead guitar and bring our sound to the next level.

In comes Matt Merritt. Matt has been friends with Karl (drummer) for quite some time and they also are in an original band together called Tinted Image. Because of their playing styles and knowledge of each other, it only seemed appropriate to bring Matt on board as the guitar player we were looking for.

From the smooth styles of Santana to the ripping of Trey Anastasio, to the obvious influence of Tim Reynolds, we have no doubt that our fans will instantly love the new Big Eyed Phish sound and energy that is brought with this addition to the band.

Matt will be playing his first out-of-Rochester gig with us this friday at The Stage in Warsaw, NY (tickets still available, see below for info), and his first in-Rochester gig at the Irondequoit Ale House!

Come welcome him as a member of the band and hear some new versions of old songs, and even get to hear the newest DMB single "Funny the way it is"!!
The Ale House will also be our first Yuengling sponsored event.
What does this mean you ask?
This means great specials on Yuengling.
This means the YUENGLING GIRLS will be there.
This means the YUENGLING GIRLS will be there with PRIZES and things to hand out all night!

(The Stage show is all-ages, the Ale House is 18+)

Ladies and Gentlemen - Matt Merritt

"The Stage Theater" Show - May 1st!

Wednesday 15 April 2009 - 17:27:27

This is going to be a very fun show at an old renovated theater in Warsaw, NY. Unlike any previous show, this show requires that you have a ticket to get in. It is an all-ages show and we are definitely encouraging families and friends to all get together to join us! The theater does not have their alcohol permit at this time, so no alcohol will be served before, during, or after the show at the venue! (Do your pre-gaming!). They do have REALLY good home-cooked pies there for concessions though!
The show is on May 1st, at the theater, and will run from 7-10pm! This allows families to all come enjoy the show without being out too late, as well as gives the party-crowd time to get back to wherever they want to be and get to some bars!
Tickets for this show are $10 both presale and at the door. We have contacted some local high schools in the area and are not sure how big the turnout might be. I would highly suggest you advance-order tickets to make sure you get a seat! There is a limited number of tickets available.
For those closer to Rochester, the band members each have tickets to sell as well. We can deliver them to your door if you'd like! Feel free to contact us through this website or the myspace if you'd like tickets from the band and are in the rochester area.

To order tickets:
-Call (585) 786-5000 - The Stage theater Box Office
or
-Ask a band member

A thank you in advance to all our friends and fans and fellow-DMB lovers! As a little free love, here is a youtube video from the DMB show on 4/14/2009 at MSG. This is their newly released single "Funny How It Is" (click the "HQ" to watch the high quality version)

Benefit Show for Caitlyn Grillo - Sunday - March 8th

Friday 06 March 2009 - 10:45:39

(Parts taken from the Democrat and Chronicle: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20090304/LIVING/903040315/1032

In November, Caitlyn Grillo was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a cancer of the nervous system. News of Caitlyn's illness came just four days after she had dressed up as a kitten for her first Halloween. Sarah and Eric took their daughter in for a routine checkup and expressed some concerns, including lack of movement in Caitlyn's legs. Caitlyn's doctor sent them to Strong Memorial Hospital immediately. Test results revealed a stage 3 cancerous mass on her spine.
The parents have set up a website: www.caringbridge.org/visit/caitlyngrillo

This sunday, March 8th, for everyone in Rochester...come out to The Jukebox. I think we go on around 5pm or something like that but come earlier to hang out and support this great cause.
